organic quality. Read about our wines, produced in Upper Moutere in the Nelson region of
New Zealand, below.

2011 Pinot Rose
This is a light off dry rose made from Pinot noir grapes. It was made using the traditional rose technique of short skin contact followed by a slow cool ferment. It has a fragrant fruity nose with hints of strawberries and chocolate with a light, fresh, well balanced palate. Serve lightly chilled with lunch in the sun.

2011 Sauvignon Blanc
This is an off dry full bodied Sauvignon Blanc picked late in April 2011 with very high sugar levels giving the wine luscious passion fruit flavours and a fragrant elderflower background. A slow cool ferment stopped naturally at 7g/l residual sweetness, giving a full round mouth feel. This wine is best served lightly chilled.

2010 Riesling
This is a medium style Riesling with 15 g/l residual sweetness. It has a fragrant floral aroma with hints of honey, a full bodied palate, and a lingering sweetness balanced with a crisp fresh finish. It will continue to develop with cellaring for several years.

2011 Gewurztraminer
This is Sunset Valley's first Gewurztraminer and shows the potential for the variety here.The grapes ripened to very high sugar levels giving a full bodied wine with hints of lychees and peaches on the nose. The palate is off dry with 11 g/l residual sweetness making it an ideal accompaniment to spicy fragrant dishes or as an aperitif, lightly chilled in summer.

2011 Pinot Gris
This is Sunset Valley's first Pinot Gris and shows the potential of this variety here.The long hot summer of 2011 has given a luscious full palate with hints of ripe pears on the nose and a firm lingering off dry finish. This wine is an ideal accompaniment to fish and shellfish dishes and is best served lightly chilled.

2010 Cabernet Sauvignon / Syrah
The 2010 season was characterised by an early spring followed by a very hot dry summer and cool autumn resulting in a fruity wine with hints of blackberry and elderberry. A year in French and American Oak Barriques has contributed firm tannins and spicy notes with a hint of vanilla. This wine will develop further with cellaring from 2 to 5 years and is best served at room temperature.

2009 Pinot Noir Reserve - now on special !
A long hot and very dry summer,followed by a cool autumn has given a wine with a ripe fruity aroma with hints of plums and caramel. A year in French oak barriques has helped to develop a soft full palate with a smooth lingering aftertaste and layers of complexity. This wine will develop with cellaring for up to 10 years.

2009 Chardonnay Reserve
An early spring and a long hot summer followed by a cool autumn have given this wine an aroma full of ripe citrus with hints of tropical fruits and vanilla. The grapes were whole bunch pressed, barrel fermented, and aged on yeast lees for a year producing a well integrated wine with a soft palate and a long buttery aftertaste. This wine will continue to develop with two to four years cellaring.
